Frisco Fizz puts the sparkle in Hetch Hetchy's famously delicious water.

Founded in 2015, Frisco Fizz is the brainchild of native San Franciscan, Emmett. Emmett developed a taste for sparkling water at an early age. "I think I was three," he said. What was it about sparkling water? "You feel a tickle on your tongue. And it tickles your nose." When some of his grown-up friends bought an industrial-strength sparkling water machine, Emmett sensed an opportunity. "I figured out that they had a sparkling water machine, and it was one of my favorite drinks. So I decided I would make it into a company."

When it comes to bottling, Emmett prefers glass to plastic. "You can use a glass bottle over a hundred times," he said. "It's better for the earth." After testing every batch for bubbliness, Emmett caps each bottle by hand. While Frisco Fizz is still in the early stages -- catering to special events, and setting up the occasional sidewalk stand in various San Francisco locations -- Emmett is working on a long-term plan. Among other things, he envisions a local delivery service. "My plan is to make my own scooter. With a huge trunk."
